FUB product care
Wool care:
Wool doesn’t need washing as often as other textiles might. Instead you can take care of your FUB woollens by following these directions:
Hang it out instead of washing if the garment only needs refreshing. Many types of wool have anti-bacterial properties already in the fiber and will self-clean.
Spot clean the garment if only a small area needs to be cleaned. Be careful not to use too much concentrated detergent as this can damage the material.
When washing your woolens, pay extra attention and wash at maximum 30 degrees in a gentle wool wash or on delicate cycle (no or very low spin cycle of about 400prm). Washing wool by high temperature or at high spin
cycle will cause pillage, felting and shrinkage to the garment. Machine washing at a gentle wool cycle is preferred to wash by hand because wool needs to be washed at a stable temperature. We recommend using wool soap. Never use bleach, softeners, or soap with bleach. If you are out of wool soap, use hair shampoo, which is designed for natural fibers.
Never use a tumble dryer! Dry your woollens by laying them flat on a towel to absorb any extra moisture, whilst gently reshaping them. Knits can be heavy when wet so drying them over a rail or hanging them will pull them out of shape.
Cotton care:
Cotton is fully machine washable, but we recommend washing on a delicate cycle to preserve the softness. We recommend washing cotton at a maximum of 40 degrees using a mild detergent that preserves both the colours and the natural fibers.
We don’t recommend using a tumble dryer! Dry your cottons by laying them flat on a towel to absorb any extra moisture, whilst gently reshaping them. Knits can be heavy when wet so drying them over a rail or hanging them will pull them out of shape.
