Aran Woollen Mills, Ireland’s largest home based knitwear manufacturer, offers the very best in both traditional and contemporary Irish knitwear. Founded in 1965, family owned and managed business.

Based in the beautiful town of Westport which has strong links to the textile and knitting industries spanning several generations, surrounded by stunning scenery – rivers, lakes, The Reek (Croagh Patrick Mountain) and of course the wild Atlantic Ocean, an infinite source of inspiration for the design team and one that is often featured in the stitch detail, not to mention branding and labelling. Whether inspired by the surroundings or equally the knitting heritage, every stitch is steeped in symbolism, from the fisherman’s cable (representing safety and good luck) to the honeycomb (a just reward for hard work).
