10th Anniversary - Little Kin Studio

Little Kin Studio started out on a living room table in Brooklyn, New York. Danish-born Kat own, designs and runs the brand and we have loved what she does since its conception.

At the moment, Kat, her three kids and their dog reside in Denmark while her husband still lives and works in Brooklyn, where they all hope to be reunited when the world once again feels like a gentler place. Until then, Kat will keep designing new dolls and animals, for kids all over the world to play with.

We spoke to Kat about working on our collaboration:

"I find it so inspirational to work with other brands and collaborate on designing a special collection. It’s always great to widen your perspective and open up to other people’s ideas and visions and since I’ve been a customer myself at MamaOwl from when Anna just launched the shop, I was thrilled to be asked to do this collaboration.

I really wanted to design something that was truly reflecting that warm and cozy MamaOwl spirit and of course keep building on Anna’s love for earthy colours and organic wool"
"All our products are handmade in a rural part of Peru by a women’s collective. We produce in a 100% sustainable manner, which is both slow and expensive, but for us it’s the only way we would want to run production. Prior to working at the collective, all employees have experienced severe problems in their life situations and the employment is now providing them with a fair salary and through their work, they gain economic independence.
All our dolls and doll clothes are 100% handmade and hand-knitted and it takes several days to finish just one doll.
This collaboration was honestly a very easy one and the design of the Mini Isle Sweater and the linen dresses and bloomers seemed so natural to me. It is always a bit nerve wracking to open the boxes when they arrive from our production team in Peru, since we never know exactly what it will look like, and because everything is handmade and hand knitted it’s a very long and expensive process, that you don’t just redo, but luckily, everything turned out exactly how we had envisioned it"
"I absolutely love the final items! The colours are very true to both MamaOwl and my own style and the tiny hand knitted sweaters are just the cutest"
Thank you so much to Kat @littlekinstudio we've really loved working with you on this collaboration.
