About The Brand+-
Merino Kids
Merino Kids is an international award-winning company from New Zealand that specialises in using natural fibres and merino for newborn, baby and toddler sleepwear. The company was founded by Amie Nilsson in 2003 and since that time has grown significantly to now become one of the global leaders and commentators of using natural fibres for young children.
Amie Nilsson started Merino Kids back in 2003 out of necessity for her first daughter Lily. As a mother researching the availability of baby and toddler sleepwear products, she was shocked at the number of synthetic products that were flooding the market. She was dismayed at the size and state if the unregulated global industry. Using her background in textile design and her knowledge of merino as a natural wonder fibre, she decided to make a difference.
The company uses 100% natural materials to create finer, safer garments that insulate and breathe better in both hot and cold environments, ensuring young children and babies are perfectly adapted to their sleeping environments.
Product Care+-
How to wash and care for your Merino Kids products:
Hand wash
For hand washing, just wash it in clean, lukewarm water ( approx. 30 degrees Celsius). Allow to soak for 10 minutes before rinsing thoroughly firstly in lukewarm water, then in cold water. Hand washing can also enable a residual build-up of odour.
Machine wash
For machine washing, close any zips before you pop in the machine, turn the wool cycle on and make sure it is set to 30°C max. Merino Kids recommend using wool detergent as regular detergent will damage your garments over time.
Drying
Merino wool naturally repels water and will dry super quickly in a natural environment. Where possible we recommend that garments are dried flat or gently hung.
Stain removal
Rub liquid wool wash with baking soda, water and a few drops of lemon, then rub gently onto the stained area. Leave for 15 minutes and then proceed to wash as per instructions.
Odour resistant
Merino fibres have the characteristic of drawing moisture away from the body and either absorbing or releasing this moisture, which eliminates clamminess and ensures that the garments remain odour-free. Hanging in fresh air can refresh items without the need for washing.
